Best Lawyers® is excited to announce the launch of research to identify the top law firms for the inaugural edition of Best Law Firms™ - Spain. This initiative represents a significant step in our ongoing commitment to recognizing excellence in the legal profession.
After 14 successful publications of Best Law Firms® in the United States, we are now extending our reach to Spain, building on our recent expansions into Australia and Germany. The launch of Best Law Firms™ - Canada is also set to take place later this month.
After 16 editions of The Best Lawyers in Spain™ awards, we aim to set a new standard for legal recognition in the Spanish market.
The Process Behind Our Rankings
Best Law Firms employs a comprehensive selection process designed to evaluate law firms based on peer reviews and client feedback.
Our methodology ensures that only the most distinguished firms are acknowledged. Only firms with at least one lawyer included in the current edition of The Best Lawyers in Spain are invited to participate in the research process.
We draw insights from various sources, including client testimonials and professional referrals, to create a holistic view of each firm's reputation and capabilities.
In addition to peer reviews, we consider multiple factors contributing to a firm’s success, such as:
- lawyer expertise
- client satisfaction
- overall standing within the legal community
Each firm is assessed against a set of established criteria to ensure fairness and accuracy throughout the evaluation process. This rigorous approach not only helps identify the best law firms, but also fosters a culture of excellence within the legal profession.
Key Milestones in the Research Timeline
The research process for Best Law Firms™ - Spain will follow a well-structured timeline to ensure thorough and fair evaluations of participating firms. Starting October 17, 2024, eligible firms will receive Submission Packets, which contain three key components:
- List of Practice Areas and Jurisdictions: This document outlines the specific rankings for which the firm qualifies, allowing them to understand the scope of their evaluation.
- Law Firm Survey: This survey is designed to gather detailed information about the firm’s work over the past year, highlighting what differentiates them from competitors.
- Client and Professional References: Firms are asked to provide names of clients and professional contacts who can speak to their strengths and contributions, offering valuable insights through a brief survey.
After the Submission Packets are distributed, our research team will review the submitted materials, including the Law Firm Survey and client/professional reference feedback.
This process involves analyzing the data to assess the firm's performance in various practice areas and jurisdictions. The results will be combined into an overall Best Law Firms score for each firm.
Firms will then be categorized into tiers based on their scores, allowing for a structured recognition system that highlights top performers without ranking them sequentially.
All selected firms will be confidentially notified of their rankings prior to the embargoed release in April 2025. The public announcement of the 2026 edition will follow at the end of May 2025.
