Overview
Today, Abrams Fensterman, LLP has emerged as one of New York’s leading law firms. Our legal team consists of prominent attorneys, former judges, appellate counsel, legislators, law school professors, and recognized legal scholars who, together, provide quality legal services to our diverse array of individual and corporate clients. Many attorneys have been recognized in New York State and throughout the country for their expertise and legal acumen.
1999
During the summer of 1999, Robert and Linda Abrams and Howard and Lori Fensterman unexpectedly meet in Florence, Italy and Howard and Bob discuss a possible merger between the law firm of Fensterman and Fensterman and the law firm of Robert Abrams, PC.
2000
The Lake Success law firm of Abrams Fensterman, LLP is created, and Howard Fensterman, already widely known as a highly talented advocate and skilled businessman, assumes the role of Managing Partner.
In addition to Howard and Bob, Robert Fensterman and Ellen Flowers were founding partners of the firm—all of whom, over twenty years later, remain with Abrams Fensterman, LLP.
2001
Patrick Formato and Keith Singer become Partners. Under Patrick Formato’s leadership, Abrams Fensterman, LLP’s Health Law department has served as counsel on major healthcare transactions, provides regulatory and compliance advice to healthcare providers, and offers guidance and defense in related matters including state and federal investigations.
2002
Past President of the Nassau County Bar Association Steve Eisman and Hofstra Law School Hall of Famer Samuel Ferrara join Abrams Fensterman, LLP and create the foundation for our statewide matrimonial practice.
2007
Carolyn Wolf, the leading expert in the field, merges her nationally recognized Mental Health Law Practice into Abrams Fensterman, LLP.
John Belesi joins the firm and together with Jordan Fensterman, create the No Fault Practice.
2010
Abrams Fensterman, LLP opens its office in Rochester, New York headed by Sharon Stiller, an expert in and author of employment law treatises.
2011
As part of our “We Are Brooklyn” commitment, prominent Brooklyn attorneys including Frank Carone, former Brooklyn Bar Association President, and the Honorable Frank R. Seddio joined the firm.
2016
In November 2016, under the leadership of Frank Carone, we moved into our beautiful and spacious Metrotech offices in downtown Brooklyn, New York and emerged as Brooklyn’s largest and most influential law firm.
The same year, one of New York’s top divorce attorneys, Rose Ann Branda her partner Mark Caruso, and real estate maven, Larry DiGiovanna, join the firm.
In December 2016, prominent transportation attorney and former Brooklyn Bar Association President Ethan Gerber joins Abrams Fensterman, LLP, bringing 28 members of his former firm into Abrams Fensterman, LLP and making it the largest and most prominent private transportation practice in New York State.
2019
In December 2019 under the leadership of the Honorable Robert Spolzino, a former Justice of the Appellate Division, we opened our office in White Plains, New York. Following our Brooklyn model, Abrams Fensterman, LLP has recruited the best available legal talent, including former Appellate Justice Jeffrey Cohen and Former General Counsel to the Chief Judge of the State of NY Lisa Florio.
2020
Under the leadership of Howard Fensterman and Patrick Formato, Abrams Fensterman, LLP opened our Albany Office. The Albany office is led by former New York State Department of Health attorneys Michael Bass (General Counsel, Legal Affairs) and Richard Thomas (Deputy Director of the Bureau of Program Counsel).
2022
In Abrams Fensterman, LLP’s tradition of public service, Frank Carone served as Chief of Staff to NYC Mayor, Eric Adams. After fulfilling his one-year commitment to help Mayor Adams assemble his administrative team and implement his policies, Frank returned to the firm in early 2023 as Of Counsel.
In November 2022, the firm of Berwitz & DiTata LLP, eminent in the field of Estate Planning, Probate Estate & Trust Administration and Litigation and other fields involving Elder Law, join the Abrams Fensterman, LLP family.
