Although there are certainly builders who take pride in the homes that they build, some builders, in a rush to bring product to the market at the lowest cost, cut corners or do not comply with building codes, plans, specifications, engineer’s requirements, or industry standards. When homeowners request that the builder fix these problems, these same builders often present the homeowners with excuses, delays, and unfulfilled promises. Sometimes a builder performs the corrective work, but the corrective work itself is substandard. We represent community and homeowners’ associations with various construction defect problems.

The firm of Kerrane Storz’s and our team of attorneys have been extremely supportive in our construction defect suit filed against our communities developers and builder. We work with a team of attorneys that are extremely knowledgeable and experienced in the area of construction defects and building standards. They are prompt in their response to questions, provide information to help educate the board on building standards, and communicate frequently to help keep our homeowners up-to-date on the process, next steps in the process, and timelines. Dealing with our lawsuit during the COVID-19 pandemic has added additional challenges to the suit and the length of time it is taking to settle the suit because the court system in Colorado is struggling to handle the volume of cases with the COVID restrictions in place. Our attorney’s have kept the board up-to-date on changes, schedules, and provided as much information as available on what will happen next. I would highly recommend them to anyone dealing with construction defects in their individual homes or a community development.

Our community is made up of only nineteen homes. Sitting on the Arkansas River in Salida, Colorado, it's a wonderful location and each of our owners fell in love with their homes. Devastating to all, we had four roofs fail almost immediately after the community was completed. As often is the case, there was no support from the developer to repair or make us whole. Fortunately, it was within the timeline available for a Construction Defect Claim. The community determined to press forward against the developer. After three and a half years, we just settled in our favor. KerraneStorz' guidance and support throughout the process was impeccable, thoughtful and flawless. Their accessibility to the Board and to the community was consistently outstanding. Throughout the process, homeowners felt they were fully supported at all times by the KerraneStorz team. Remarkable experience for all.... From the Board's perspective, while going through being deposed by the defense and also slogging through a series of mediations, the KerraneStorz Team's mentoring and focus on our Board's needs eased these difficult challenges for us. As part of the whole KerraneStorz experience, we continue receiving their support on our post-settlement contracts with the engineering and repairs companies.
